Rachel McAdams has finally explained why Regina George wasn't in the Walmart "Mean Girls" reunion ad for Black Friday this year.

In an interview with Variety, the 45-year-old actor revealed that she had turned down the opportunity because she wasn't keen on in starring in an ad.

"I don't know; I guess I wasn't that excited about doing a commercial if I'm being totally honest," McAdams told Variety. "A movie sounded awesome, but I've never done commercials, and it just didn't feel like my bag."

When she rejected the offer, she was also unaware that some of her costars had already agreed to it, she added.

"Also…I didn't know that everyone was doing it. I would, of course, always love to be part of a 'Mean Girls' reunion and hang with my plastics, but yeah, I found that out later," she continued.

The "Mean Girls" Walmart commercial was released in November, and featured Lindsay Lohan, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried playing the grown-up versions of their original characters.

A "Mean Girls" musical adaptation written by Tina Fey is set to be released in theaters on January 12, 2024.

Fey and Tim Meadows will reprise their roles as Miss Norbury and Principal Duval, respectively, in the new movie, Fey announced on an episode of "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in February.

However, Lohan, Chabert, Seyfried, and McAdams will not portray their characters in the remake, Entertainment Weekly reported.
